Guam, for the uninitiated, is a tropical seaside paradise that offers nirvana
and a welcome break to suffering souls reeling from urban morbidity and
modern mechanized urban squalor.
The scenic locales of this relatively unknown Micronesian island nation,
the largest of the Mariana Islands, are a salve for tired souls as well
as a thrilling getaway for adventure seekers and adrenaline junkies.
Botanical Gardens
Guam has 3 botanical gardens and they are hot tourist spots. You can visit
the Nano Fall Botanical Gardens situated in Agat for its spectacular natural
beauty. Its biggest attraction is the ability to swim under the rushing
cascading water in the Nano River.
The second botanical garden that is a must visit on tourist itinerary is
Pineapple Plantation in Yigo. Towards the southern part of the island lies
the Inarajan Shore Botanical Garden overlooking the sea.
Parks
Guam abounds in beautiful tree lined parks, most of which are dedicated
to the heroes of wars and bring alive the memories of those war ravaged
days.
The most famous of these are the South Pacific Memorial Park situated in
Yigo where the martyrs and departed heroes/slain soldiers of World War
II are commemorated and the War in the Pacific National Historical Park.
This last one is a historic site and a top tourist draw where 5 battles
were fought during the World War II. This park also houses a war museum.
Waterfalls
As mentioned before Guam has been blessed by the bounty of nature and is
home to some of the most spectacular natural wonders that can render one
speechless with their pristine unsullied beauty. Guam is an island of waterfalls
boasting of as many as 9 gushing cascades of water going by the names of
Talofofo Falls, Cetti Falls, and Tarzan falls, Inarajan Falls, Sigua Falls,
Imong Falls, Sella Falls, Fintasa Falls and Malojloj Falls.
Guam has an unending unbroken stretch of sandy silvery coastline with picture
perfect sun kissed beaches and the coastline that has a wall of stiff cliff
rising behind stretches for over 125 km. The USP of Guam’s beaches is that
they are secluded, far from the madding crowd and are redolent of a calm
tranquil atmosphere unspoiled and untouched by the ravages of urbanity.
Some of the virgin desolate beaches of Guam are Ritidian beach, Faifa’i
Beach.
Natural Parks
They are Merizo Pier Park that hosts festivals, Latte Park, Talofofo Bay
Beach Park and Ipaho Beach Park and Mata’pang beach and park and Joseph
Flores Beach Park – the largest and most popular.
